Google reportedly seeks major studio licensing deals for AI content

Google $GOOGL is reportedly approaching Disney, Warner and Universal about licensing characters and film libraries for AI training and generated content, according to The Verge.
For major intellectual property such as Disney or Pixar characters, Google could reportedly pay around $40 million for rights associated with a single character. Across large catalogs, potential agreements could therefore reach into the billions of dollars.
Some proposals could also include revenue-sharing arrangements that give studios a portion of advertising revenue generated by AI content featuring their intellectual property on platforms such as YouTube.
The talks point toward a potentially significant shift from legal disputes over AI training data toward large-scale commercial licensing of premium entertainment IP.
