John Ternus, Apple's former senior vice president of hardware engineering, has taken over as CEO from Tim Cook, who becomes executive chairman, just days before the company's September 9 iPhone launch event.
The event, branded "Surprise and Shine," is widely expected to unveil the iPhone 18 lineup along with Apple's first foldable iPhone. In a memo to staff, Ternus called the upcoming launch "phenomenal" and said he's "just as excited about what lies beyond that."
