USD/JPY sees intervention-style drops
$JPY is back in focus after $USDJPY showed repeated intervention-style crashes.
The pair reportedly dropped sharply from around 162.40 to 161.90 in two hours, then later fell again from roughly 161.80 to 161.30.
Both moves were sudden and vertical, which is why traders are watching for possible Tokyo intervention.
Japan’s currency officials have repeatedly warned that they are monitoring speculative yen positions.
For now, there is no official confirmation, and intervention data will not be published until later this month.
The bigger signal is that yen volatility remains highly sensitive to policy warnings and suspected official action.
