Cleveland Fed President Warns Against Entrenched "Inflationary Mindset"

Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland President Beth Hammack cautioned that prolonged above-target inflation risks entrenching an "inflationary mindset" among consumers and businesses, making future price stability harder and more costly to restore.
Speaking at the Cleveland Fed's policy conference, Hammack noted that resilient consumer spending and ongoing capital expenditures continue to exert upward pressure on prices. She emphasized that monetary policy must remain at a restrictive stance to anchor expectations and ensure inflation returns sustainably to the central bank's 2% target.
