SEC Proposes New Crypto Custody Framework for Investment Advisers
The SEC has proposed a new framework that would allow investment advisers and regulated funds to self-custody client crypto assets in limited circumstances when an eligible custodian is unavailable.
The proposal would also allow state trust companies to serve as custodians for crypto assets.
The framework is intended to create a compliant custody pathway for investment advisers and funds operating in digital asset markets.
