$NVDA Expects to Double AI Chip Sales Next Year Amid Unprecedented Demand
Nvidia ($NVDA) CEO Jensen Huang stated that the chipmaker expects to sell twice as many chips next year as it ships this year, speaking to reporters at an artificial intelligence summit convened by King Charles III in Scotland.
The unit projection reinforces CFO Colette Kress's earlier guidance of 70% revenue growth for fiscal 2028, which would elevate annual sales to approximately $673 billion—roughly $200 billion above prior Wall Street consensus. Kress noted that revenue growth remains constrained by production capacity rather than end-market appetite, with customer demand capable of supporting a doubling of sales if sufficient supply were available.
Huang emphasized that compute demand is expanding well beyond traditional hyperscalers, driven by sovereign AI programs, NeoClouds, and enterprise customers growing at roughly 100% annually. However, execution faces persistent supply-chain bottlenecks, particularly severe high-bandwidth memory shortages that are projected to compress gross margins to 71%–72% in late fiscal 2027 before recovering to 72%–73% in fiscal 2028.
