American Airlines Will Match $1,000 Trump Account Contribution for Employees' Children
American Airlines said on Aug. 31 it will match the federal government's $1,000 Trump Accounts contribution with an additional $1,000 of its own for eligible employees' children. The airline, which employs nearly 140,000 people globally, said thousands of employees' children could qualify.
CEO Robert Isom said the move reflects the company's commitment to helping employees build a strong financial future. American Airlines joins Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley among more than 50 companies that have committed to matching the government's $1,000 seed contribution, according to the Treasury Department.
The airline also plans to let eligible workers make pretax payroll contributions of up to $2,500 annually to their children's accounts starting in 2027, once Treasury finalizes the rules, with about a third of its workforce expected to have access. Trump Accounts, or 530A accounts, are tax-deferred investment accounts for children under 18, with the federal $1,000 seed contribution available to children born between 2025 and 2028.
