Nuclear Power Costs Double to Triple Gas, Solar and Wind, but AI Demand Makes the Math Work

Nuclear is the most expensive power on the grid, and AI is the only customer able to pay for it, according to an analysis. New reactors and SMRs run well above $150 per MWh, double or triple the cost of gas, solar and wind, and America's last two big reactors came in roughly $20 billion over budget and seven years late.
Yet Microsoft is restarting Three Mile Island and Amazon is funding SMRs. The analysis said 24/7 baseload power for data centers is the one demand curve that makes the economics work, pointing to $OKLO as a name tied to the trend.
