DeepSeek prioritizes domestic AI chips as Huawei deliveries approach
DeepSeek CEO Liang Wenfeng reportedly told investors that increasing the use of domestically produced chips for AI training has become a major priority, with Huawei expected to begin deliveries as early as Q4.
The shift could reduce DeepSeek's dependence on foreign AI accelerators while supporting China's broader effort to develop a more self-sufficient semiconductor and AI infrastructure ecosystem.
DeepSeek is reportedly training a 2-trillion-parameter model and ultimately plans to pursue an 8-trillion-parameter model, which would require substantial computing capacity. The scale of those plans makes access to capable domestic accelerators an important execution factor.
