Warren Buffett steps down as Berkshire Hathaway chairman

Warren Buffett is stepping down as chairman of Berkshire Hathaway at age 96, completing another major stage of the company's long-planned leadership transition.
Howard Buffett will become chairman under Berkshire's succession plan, while Warren Buffett will become chairman emeritus and remain on the board. Susan Decker will continue as lead independent director.
The transition comes just over nine months after Greg Abel assumed the CEO role. Investor attention will now center on continuity in governance and capital allocation as Berkshire moves further into its post-Buffett leadership era.
