Canada has hit back at President Trump with dollar-for-dollar tariffs on U.S. goods. Prime Minister Mark Carney will double tariffs on U.S. steel and aluminum to 50%, while furniture, clothing, smartphones, gaming consoles, and other electronics will also face 50% duties.
The measures cover around $20 billion in annual U.S. imports and take effect Sept. 8. Canada also unveiled C$7.5 billion in support for businesses hurt by the trade war.
