UK authorities freeze $13.6M tied to Premier League's Sorare sponsorship

ALERT: The U.K.'s National Crime Agency has reportedly frozen approximately $13.6 million held in the Premier League's bank account in connection with its sponsorship agreement with Sorare.
The funds represented the first payment under a reported $163 million partnership with the crypto fantasy-sports platform.
Sorare is facing prosecution in the U.K. over allegations that it operated as an unlicensed gambling platform. The company disputes that characterization and says it is not under investigation by the National Crime Agency.
A trial is reportedly scheduled for June 2027, creating continued legal and regulatory uncertainty around the platform and its commercial partners.
