Diesel prices surge to a record high
Diesel prices climbed to a record high as global refined-fuel markets remain exceptionally tight.
The move follows a sharp increase in diesel refining margins and historically low inventories, indicating that the shortage in refined products is more severe than crude oil prices alone suggest.
Persistently elevated diesel prices could increase transportation and logistics costs, pressure consumers and businesses, and add another source of inflation across the broader economy.
