Sanders introduces bill seeking ban on superintelligent AI

Sen. Bernie Sanders has introduced the proposed Ban Artificial Superintelligence Act, which would prohibit the development and deployment of superintelligent AI in the U.S.
The proposal would also pause certain advanced AI development until a new Department of AI establishes safety rules and would direct the U.S. government to pursue international cooperation aimed at preventing superintelligent AI development elsewhere.
The measure is a legislative proposal and has not become law. Its market implications would depend on whether it advances through Congress and on the eventual definitions, scope and enforcement provisions.
