Tesla AI5 chip reportedly reaches tape-out

$TSLA’s AI5 chip has reportedly reached tape-out, according to a Samsung Foundry insider.
The chip is expected to be built on Samsung’s 2nm process at its Texas fab.
That would be an important step for Tesla’s next generation of AI hardware across future products.
For Tesla, the bigger signal is that custom silicon remains central to its autonomy and robotics roadmap.
The key question is whether Samsung can scale production reliably once AI5 moves from tape-out toward volume manufacturing.
