U.S. Corporate Bankruptcies Are Rising Fast

Large-company bankruptcies have now increased year over year for the fourth consecutive first half.
The total has already exceeded all of 2022, when 317 companies filed for bankruptcy.
May and June each recorded 72 filings, making them the third-highest monthly totals since July 2020.
Industrial companies led the surge with 50 filings so far this year, followed by consumer discretionary with 35 and healthcare with 26.
The pressure on corporate America is clearly building.
