Starbucks Cuts 224 Corporate Roles as $2 Billion Turnaround Expands

Starbucks ($SBUX) is cutting 224 corporate positions tied to its Seattle headquarters as CEO Brian Niccol continues a broader operational overhaul to simplify corporate functions and lower costs.
According to a recent WARN filing, approximately 120 of the affected employees were offered transfers to the company’s expanding office in Nashville, Tennessee, but chose not to relocate. The remaining 104 separations stem from organizational restructuring within the coffee giant's design and development divisions, with all cuts set to conclude by November 1.
The reductions align with Starbucks' target of $2 billion in gross cost savings through fiscal 2028. The company is actively redirecting corporate savings back into retail operations, completing more than 1,000 store renovations as fiscal third-quarter global and U.S. comparable-store sales each increased 7.9%.
