US Consumer Inflation Expectations Jump to ~4.6% for the Next Year

US consumers now expect inflation to rise to approximately 4.6% over the next year, the third-highest reading in the past 12 months and 1.1 percentage points above the level seen at the start of 2026.
The share of consumers spontaneously mentioning gasoline as a concern rose to about 30%, its fourth-highest level in at least two years, while roughly 37% mentioned tariffs, the highest proportion since April.
