Researchers reportedly used Claude during OpenAI security breach
Security researchers at Hacktron AI reportedly used Anthropic's Claude while exploiting vulnerabilities connected to a third-party forum used by OpenAI, according to the Financial Times.
The reported access extended to several OpenAI employees' ChatGPT accounts and ultimately provided researchers with a path into OpenAI's internal GitHub environment. The vulnerabilities were exploited in July and are being publicly disclosed now.
OpenAI has since fixed the reported vulnerabilities and paid the researchers $6,500 through its bug bounty program. The incident highlights security risks created by third-party systems and increasingly capable AI-assisted security research.
