Markets sell off as U.S. expands strikes on Iran near Strait of Hormuz
BREAKING: President Trump says the U.S. is carrying out large-scale strikes on Iranian targets near the Strait of Hormuz following reported attempted sea mining and missile attacks on a U.S. base in Jordan.
Trump also warned that any further Iranian retaliation would be met with substantially stronger force, raising the risk of another escalation cycle.
Markets are reacting negatively to the renewed conflict, with $BTC down about 0.9%, the S&P 500 down roughly 0.7%, the Nasdaq lower by around 0.9% and the Dow down about 0.8%.
The simultaneous decline across crypto and equities reflects a broad risk-off response as investors assess the possibility of a prolonged regional conflict and potential disruption to global energy flows.
