SpaceX Secures Classified Space-Tracking Deal with U.S. Space Force
SpaceX has entered into an agreement with the U.S. Space Force to gain unique access to the Pentagon's most detailed classified space-tracking data, according to Breaking Defense.
In exchange, SpaceX will share data generated by Stargaze, a network utilizing approximately 30,000 cameras across Starlink satellites to monitor objects in low Earth orbit. The classified data will allow SpaceX to more precisely model collision risks for its fleet of roughly 11,000 satellites, which currently executes about 20,000 maneuvers daily, including roughly 1,000 dedicated to collision avoidance.
