Coinbase seeks approval for 24/7 leveraged stock trading in the U.S.
Coinbase $COIN is seeking SEC and CFTC approval to offer 24/7 leveraged stock trading in the U.S., according to Bloomberg.
The company wants equity perpetuals to be classified as security futures under existing law, potentially creating a regulatory pathway for continuously traded leveraged stock products.
Coinbase already offers stock perpetuals to non-U.S. users with leverage of up to 20x on names including Apple, Nvidia and Tesla.
If approved, the move would push Coinbase further into traditional market infrastructure and blur the line between crypto-style perpetual products and regulated U.S. equities.
