$AAPL's New CEO Weighs Year-Round Product Launches and Cuts Management Roles
$AAPL CEO John Ternus is moving quickly to reshape the company just weeks into the job, with plans to speed up product development, reduce management layers and make Apple more engineering-focused, according to Bloomberg.
Apple is considering moving away from its traditional spring and fall launch schedule and introducing products more frequently throughout the year.
The hardware engineering group has already started cutting engineering program manager roles, including several senior directors, as Ternus pushes for fewer layers between engineers and leadership.
Apple also explored using AI to automate more customer support work and potentially cut around 5,000 AppleCare positions, though that plan was ultimately put on hold.
At the same time, Apple has a major product pipeline planned for next year, including camera-equipped AirPods, its first smart glasses and a redesigned 20th-anniversary iPhone.
The broader push is to ship products faster, operate with fewer layers and find new sources of growth as Services growth slows.
