Nearly 30 Million Barrels a Day of Oil Flows Now Offline or at Risk in Middle East

Saudi Arabia's East-West pipeline was shut down as of Friday following recent attacks, putting 4 million barrels per day of oil exports at risk, according to the post. The Bab el-Mandeb Strait is now reportedly at risk of closure, threatening up to 9 million barrels per day of supply, while the Strait of Hormuz is said to be operating at only about 20% of its pre-Iran War capacity, removing roughly 15 million barrels per day of flows.
Combined, the post estimates nearly 30 million barrels per day of oil flows are either offline or at risk, a scale it calls enormous relative to the roughly 100 million barrel per day global oil market, even after accounting for overlap between the routes. The post describes this as one of the most severe energy supply situations in modern history.
