CZ Retires Public Wallet After Meme Coin Traders Turn It Into a Trading Signal
CZ is abandoning one of crypto’s most closely watched wallets.
The Binance founder says his public address became “almost impossible to clean out” after unsolicited meme coins continued flooding into it.
Every attempt to burn unwanted tokens created even more speculation.
Traders began monitoring CZ’s on-chain activity for potential market signals — and in one case, it paid off spectacularly.
According to Lookonchain, a trader spotted CZ’s wallet burning 4,444 $MARSCOIN and bought 84.61 million tokens in the exact same second for roughly $9,645.
To get ahead of competing buyers, the trader reportedly set gas prices hundreds or even thousands of times above normal.
The trade ultimately generated about $282,000 — roughly a 29x return.
CZ says there was never any hidden signal behind the burns. He was simply trying to remove unsolicited tokens from the wallet.
But the more he burned, the more meme coins people sent him.
CZ has now transferred roughly $965,000 in BNB and other holdings to Giggle Academy and says he will stop using the address entirely.
The wallet will effectively become a burn address — ending an unusual episode where even routine wallet cleanup from one of crypto’s biggest names became a tradable event.
