Island Wing Co. Franchisee Files Chapter 11 Bankruptcy as Chicken Chains Face Rising Pressure
Bartram Park IWC LLC, a franchisee of chicken wings chain Island Wing Co., filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Aug. 6, 2026, in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Florida.
The Jacksonville, Florida-based franchisee listed $1 million to $10 million in assets and liabilities. Its three largest creditors include MidFlorida Credit Union, owed $1.26 million, US Foods, owed $112,000, and ADP, owed more than $41,000.
The filing comes about a month after another company owned by the same operator filed for Chapter 11. The franchisee continues operating its Bartram location and owns three other open locations, while one Florida location closed in June.
Chicken concepts remain one of the strongest areas of fast food. Traffic to chicken restaurants rose 3% in 2025, even as traffic across all fast-food concepts declined 1%, according to Circana. However, franchisees for major chains including Popeyes have also closed locations or entered bankruptcy.
