Eli Lilly begins construction on $6.5B Houston manufacturing plant

$LLY has broken ground on a roughly $6.5 billion manufacturing facility in Houston as it expands U.S. production capacity.
The approximately 1 million-square-foot site will manufacture active pharmaceutical ingredients for Foundayo, Lilly's FDA-approved oral GLP-1 weight-loss drug, alongside other small-molecule and advanced medicines.
Lilly expects the project to create about 615 permanent jobs and roughly 4,000 construction jobs, with the build-out taking approximately five years. The facility is part of the company's broader $50 billion U.S. manufacturing investment program.
