U.S. Executives Are Selling Stock at a Historic Pace

Corporate insiders sold $77.6 billion worth of shares in the first half of 2026 , up 20% year over year and marking the highest half-year total since H1 2021.
It was also the second-largest six-month insider selling spree in more than two decades .
Meanwhile, insider purchases totaled just $6.9 billion , barely above the seven-year low of $6.7 billion recorded in 2025.
In other words, executives sold more than 11.5 times as much stock as they bought during H1 2026.
The people with the closest view of these companies are cashing out at an unusually aggressive pace.
