U.S. 10-year Treasury yield hits 5.2%, highest since 2007
The U.S. 10-year Treasury yield has reached 5.2%, its highest level since 2007, after rising roughly 26 basis points in two days. The 30-year yield climbed to around 5.5%, a level last seen in 2004, according to the Financial Times.
The repricing comes as oil trades back above $106 and strong U.S. business activity increases expectations for faster Federal Reserve tightening.
Higher Treasury yields are also feeding into consumer borrowing costs, with the average 30-year mortgage rate reaching 7.03%, its highest since January 2025, according to Freddie Mac.
