Tether lends about $1.5B to major U.S. precious-metals dealer
Tether has reportedly lent approximately $1.5 billion to Gold.com, a major U.S. precious-metals dealer, creating a substantial link between the stablecoin issuer and the physical gold market.
The Tether financing accounted for most of Gold.com's approximately $1.7 billion in outstanding precious-metal leases as of June.
The scale of the relationship highlights Tether's expanding activity beyond $USDT and into commodity-linked financing. It also creates meaningful counterparty and concentration exposure given the size of Tether's contribution to the dealer's outstanding leases.
