US AI firms serve Chinese tech units in Singapore
U.S. AI firms are reportedly supplying AI services to Singapore-based units of Alibaba, Baidu, and Tencent despite ongoing U.S. security scrutiny.
The setup puts $BABA, $BIDU, and $TCEHY back into the center of the AI access debate.
The bigger signal is that Chinese tech firms may still be finding pathways to advanced AI services through offshore subsidiaries.
For investors, this creates a two-sided read: it could support AI capability development, but it also raises regulatory and geopolitical risk.
The key question is whether U.S. officials treat these Singapore links as normal commercial activity or as a loophole in AI restrictions.
