Uber launches AI-powered robotaxi service in London

Uber $UBER has launched an AI-powered robotaxi service in London, marking its first autonomous ride deployment in the city and giving it an early lead over Waymo in the UK market.
The initial fleet includes 20 Ford Mustang Mach-Es equipped with Wayve's AI Driver system, which is designed to learn from real-world driving and adapt across different roads, weather conditions and cities.
Safety operators will remain onboard during the first phase, with fully driverless service planned later. The rides are being offered through UberX, Comfort and Electric without an additional autonomous-driving surcharge.
The launch strengthens Uber's position as a distribution platform for autonomous-mobility technology while allowing it to expand robotaxi exposure without developing the full self-driving stack internally.
