$NVO Launches Wegovy Pill in Germany, Expanding Oral GLP-1 Push

$NVO has launched the Wegovy pill in Germany, marking the first rollout of the oral obesity treatment in the European Union.
The pill had already launched earlier this year in the U.S., Britain and the UAE.
Pricing in Germany will vary by dose and is expected to be broadly comparable with Wegovy injection retail prices, which currently range from roughly €170 to €280.
The launch is important because oral GLP-1 drugs could significantly expand the obesity-treatment market by offering patients an alternative to injections.
Novo Nordisk estimates that oral obesity medications could account for more than one-third of GLP-1 usage by 2030.
That creates another major competitive battleground for $NVO, $LLY and digital-health platforms such as $HIMS as demand for weight-loss treatments continues to expand.
