Revolut Launches Its Own Euro Stablecoin

Revolut is bringing its global currency business on-chain.
The fintech has begun rolling out EURR, its first euro-backed stablecoin, to selected customers in Denmark, Poland and Portugal.
Wider availability across the European Economic Area is expected later this year.
EURR is issued by Stripe-owned Bridge under Europe’s MiCA framework and is designed to maintain a value of €1.
The biggest advantage Revolut brings is distribution.
The company now has more than 80 million retail customers globally and over 16 million crypto users, giving EURR potential access to an audience far larger than most euro stablecoins.
That matters because euro-denominated stablecoins remain tiny compared with their dollar-backed counterparts.
The global stablecoin market exceeds $300 billion, while euro-pegged tokens still represent well under $1 billion.
EURR is also only the beginning.
Revolut says stablecoins tied to additional currencies are already being developed as part of a broader strategy connecting fiat money directly with blockchain networks.
Stablecoins started as crypto infrastructure.
Revolut wants to turn them into global financial infrastructure.
