Apple May Delay Standard iPhone 18 to 2027 as Supply Shortages Reshape Launch Strategy
Apple is reportedly planning to launch the iPhone 18 Pro series this fall while delaying the standard iPhone 18 until the first quarter of 2027, according to supplier commentary reported by Economic Daily News and The Verge. The iPhone 18e and a new iPhone Air are also expected around early 2027.
The shift could prioritize Apple’s higher-margin devices as memory and chip shortages put pressure on electronics makers. Apple’s latest quarter generated a record $54.25 billion in iPhone revenue, up 21.7% year over year, while total revenue reached $109.4 billion.
Apple has also warned that supply constraints are significant, while CEO Tim Cook said rising memory and storage costs could lead to price increases on some products. The company’s rumored foldable iPhone, potentially priced above $2,000, could further tilt the fall lineup toward premium devices.
