Hawaii Becomes 4th U.S. State to Crack Down on Crypto ATMs

Hawaii is becoming the fourth U.S. state to effectively ban cash-to-crypto ATM transactions as authorities crack down on fraud.
Beginning October 1, consumers will no longer be able to deposit cash into crypto kiosks to purchase digital assets, although existing users can still convert crypto into cash and make withdrawals.
Hawaii lawmakers cited investigations showing extremely high fraud rates at some crypto ATM operators, including one case where 93% of deposits were linked to scams.
The move follows growing concern that crypto kiosks are being heavily exploited by scammers targeting consumers across the U.S.
