$UBER to Cut About 3,300 Jobs in Restructuring Aimed at Management Layers

Uber is laying off roughly 3,300 people, about 10% of its global headcount, in a restructuring aimed at reducing management layers and reallocating spending toward its ride-sharing, delivery, and robotaxi businesses, according to an internal email from CEO Dara Khosrowshahi.
The cuts will shrink the number of managers by 20%, with a portion of affected managers transitioning to individual contributor roles. Uber is also cutting teams with only one or two members by 50% and eliminating roles more than seven layers below the CEO. Khosrowshahi said the changes would "generate savings that we intend to reinvest in growth, innovation, and the capabilities that will matter most over the coming years," including investment in drivers, couriers, and the company's autonomous vehicle push.
This marks Uber's largest round of layoffs since 2020.
