18 Years Ago Today, Bitcoin.org Was Registered

18 years ago today, one of the most important domains in financial history was registered.
Bitcoin.org was registered on August 18, 2008 — months before the Bitcoin network even existed.
At the time, Bitcoin had no market price.
No miners.
No exchanges.
No ETFs.
And virtually nobody outside a tiny circle of cryptographers knew what was coming.
Just over two months later, Satoshi Nakamoto published the Bitcoin whitepaper describing a peer-to-peer electronic cash system.
Then on January 3, 2009, the Bitcoin network officially began with the mining of the Genesis Block.
What started with a domain name and a nine-page whitepaper eventually became a global monetary network and an entirely new asset class.
18 years later, Bitcoin is still running.
