Lutnick Says Anthropic Now "Back on the Right Side" With Trump Administration

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said Anthropic is "back on the right side" with the Trump administration, according to Axios, suggesting the previously fraught relationship has improved. "They've done what we asked," Lutnick reportedly said. The comment came days after a U.S. judge sided with Anthropic in its dispute with the military over AI safety, after Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth had blocked the company from certain contracts over its refusal to allow Claude models to be used for domestic surveillance or autonomous weapons.
Anthropic co-founder Tom Brown, appearing alongside Lutnick at G20 meetings in North Carolina, also praised President Trump's recent comments favoring data centers, saying they create jobs, generate tax revenue, and, depending on design, can add power back onto the grid.
