Uber cuts 3,300 jobs as spending shifts toward autonomous vehicles
Uber $UBER is cutting approximately 3,300 jobs, or around 10% of its global workforce, as the company restructures operations and redirects investment toward rides, delivery and autonomous vehicles.
The overhaul includes reducing the number of managers by roughly 20%, shrinking very small teams and cutting organizational layers. Fully remote roles are also expected to fall to around 1% of employees.
The cuts would bring Uber's workforce to just under 30,000, roughly back to 2021 levels.
Management says the resulting savings will be reinvested into growth, including more than $10 billion expected to be committed to robotaxi partnerships over the coming years.
