Walmart posts weakest U.S. sales growth in more than six years
$WMT posted its slowest U.S. comparable-sales growth in more than six years, rising just 2.6% versus the 3.7% estimate.
The company also guided Q3 adjusted EPS to $0.62-$0.64, below the $0.68 expected.
Management said consumers remain stretched, with higher gasoline prices putting additional pressure on household budgets.
Lower pharmacy pricing also weighed on sales.
For $WMT, the print raises a broader question about consumer strength as even defensive retail starts showing signs of slowdown.
