$SPCX Seeks $40B to Fund Massive $NVDA Chip Purchases

$SPCX is reportedly seeking roughly $40 billion in financing to fund large-scale purchases of $NVDA chips, according to the Financial Times.
The proposed financing package is expected to be led by Apollo and could include around $10 billion in bank loans alongside $30 billion in investment-grade debt.
The transaction is reportedly expected to close in 2027.
The funding would support SpaceX’s rapidly expanding AI and data-center infrastructure requirements.
Elon Musk said in August that SpaceX had “decided to build exclusively on Nvidia,” specifically highlighting $NVDA’s Vera Rubin architecture.
That makes the financing another major example of how the AI infrastructure boom is increasingly being funded through enormous debt packages.
For $NVDA, a $40 billion financing effort tied largely to chip purchases would reinforce how large next-generation AI deployments are becoming.
For $SPCX, the key question is whether the economic output from AI, data centers and future space-based compute can justify the scale of capital being committed today.
