Google signs 396 MW geothermal power deal with Fervo Energy

Google $GOOGL has signed a 396 MW power purchase agreement with Fervo Energy to supply carbon-free electricity from the Cape Station geothermal project in Utah, which is expected to come online in 2028.
Google also has an option to add roughly another 600 MW by June 2030, potentially expanding the partnership to nearly 1 GW of capacity to support a future Utah data center.
The agreement builds on the companies' earlier work through Fervo's Project Red in Nevada and is structured so that existing utility customers do not absorb the additional power costs.
The deal highlights how hyperscalers are increasingly securing dedicated clean-energy capacity to support rapidly growing AI and data-center electricity demand.
