Bitcoin Lightning Network gains proposed post-quantum security layer

A research team at East Texas A&M University has developed PQLN, a post-quantum defense designed for Bitcoin's Lightning Network.
The system aims to prevent future quantum attackers from decrypting Lightning data collected today and is designed to work alongside existing infrastructure without modifying Bitcoin's base protocol.
The added protection carries an efficiency cost, with bandwidth requirements estimated at roughly 10 times current levels. The research highlights growing efforts to prepare $BTC infrastructure for potential future advances in quantum computing.
