Money20/20 Executive: Crypto Jargon Is Keeping Traditional Finance on the Sidelines
Traditional financial institutions are increasingly interested in cryptocurrency, but unfamiliar terminology remains a major barrier to adoption, according to Scarlett Sieber, Chief Strategy and Growth Officer at Money20/20.
Speaking with TheStreet Roundtable in Las Vegas, Sieber explained that her new book, *The New Intersection of Money: Where TradFi and DeFi Converge*, aims to make digital finance easier for traditional businesses to understand and adopt.
She pointed to Western Union’s USDPT stablecoin on Solana as a clear example of traditional finance and blockchain technology coming together. Founded in 1851, Western Union launched USDPT in May 2026. The stablecoin is issued by Anchorage Digital Bank and backed one-to-one by U.S. dollars.
The launch brings blockchain infrastructure into Western Union’s global payment network, which spans more than 550,000 agent locations across over 150 countries.
The broader stablecoin market reached approximately $298 billion in circulation as of Nov. 2, according to DefiLlama.
Sieber’s book, co-written with five Money20/20 colleagues, covers topics including regional regulation, stablecoins, central bank digital currencies, cross-border payments, tokenization, and digital identity. It is aimed at people curious about crypto rather than experienced DeFi professionals.
Money20/20’s growing focus on the intersection of traditional and decentralized finance reflects the industry's effort to make blockchain technology more accessible to established financial institutions.
