Mercado Bitcoin Hacker Moves $8M in ETH as Suspected Losses Exceed $46M

Wallets linked to the suspected Mercado Bitcoin exploit have reportedly transferred approximately $8 million in $ETH to newly created addresses, according to blockchain intelligence platform Arkham.
The incident is now estimated to involve more than $46 million in digital assets, including $BTC, $ETH, $SOL, stablecoins and several altcoins. Reported holdings include 106.07 BTC worth $8.3 million, 2,852 ETH valued at $6.52 million and 10,696 SOL worth $1.96 million.
Blockchain investigators have also identified swaps involving $SOL and $USDT into approximately $1.15 million in ETH. Lookonchain reports that more than $9 million in assets has been frozen, including tokens associated with Tether and Paxos.
The suspected attacker reportedly retains approximately $11.8 million in altcoins that could potentially be transferred or sold. The figures reflect different stages of the investigation and should not be treated as a fully reconciled accounting of losses and recoveries.
Although speculation has emerged about possible North Korean involvement, no evidence provided so far establishes the attacker's identity. The latest wallet movements indicate that efforts to trace and secure the affected funds remain ongoing.
