Comcast Announces Major Workforce Restructuring as Broadband and Cable Customers Decline

Comcast is restructuring its operations and cutting jobs as customer losses continue to pressure its traditional broadband and cable TV businesses. The company lost 144,000 U.S. broadband customers and 274,000 cable TV customers in Q3 2026, while broadband revenue fell 4.7% year over year and cable TV revenue declined 8.7%.
The layoffs will affect multiple states, including 159 employees in Washington, 634 in Pennsylvania, 119 in New Jersey, and a reported 82 in California. Comcast said it is redesigning its organization to become more agile and plans to post more than 1,100 new positions across the company, while also helping affected employees find other roles.
Comcast is also expanding its use of AI across network operations and customer service as part of its transformation. CFO Jason Armstrong said the company expects to record more than $1 billion in Q4 charges related to cost-cutting and restructuring efforts. The changes come ahead of the planned 2027 spinoff of NBCUniversal and Sky.
