Central Banks Reportedly Accelerate Gold Accumulation and Shift Reserves Away From US Custody
Central banks worldwide are reportedly accumulating gold at approximately four times their usual pace, while some are moving bullion out of US custody, according to a report attributed to Fortune.
The reported trend could reflect growing interest in reserve diversification, physical custody and reducing dependence on foreign financial infrastructure.
Gold remains an important reserve asset because it carries no direct issuer credit risk, although its market value can fluctuate significantly.
However, the fourfold accumulation figure and the scale of any transfers require verification, including the historical comparison period. Gold purchases and physical repatriation are also separate activities and should not automatically be interpreted as coordinated moves away from the US dollar.
