Y Combinator Seeks AI and Fintech Founders for $500,000 Startup Funding
Y Combinator is inviting founders to apply for its Winter 2027 startup program, offering a standard $500,000 investment to companies it selects.
The accelerator is particularly interested in startups working on AI financing, blockchain-based fundraising, stablecoins, cross-border payments, tokenized assets, and financial software that allows AI agents to carry out transactions.
Its proposed areas of focus include:
- Blockchain tools to help fund AI development.
- Stablecoins designed for specific customer groups and international payments.
- Digital representations of real-world assets, such as real estate and securities.
- Financial APIs and software that allow AI agents to access banking and trading services.
The standard investment is structured in two parts: $125,000 for a fixed 7% equity stake, plus another $375,000 through a SAFE agreement with terms tied to future fundraising. The additional ownership depends on subsequent financing.
The Winter 2027 program runs from January through March in San Francisco. The article lists November 2 at 11 p.m. ET as the on-time application deadline, with decisions expected by December 11.
The initiative highlights growing interest in the intersection of AI, blockchain, payments, and financial infrastructure.
