Google Reportedly Developing Next-Gen Google TV Streamer With Built-In Microphones and Presence Sensing

$GOOGL's Google is reportedly developing a new generation of its Google TV Streamer with built-in microphones, presence sensing, a faster processor, and additional storage, according to 9to5Google, citing a source familiar with the company's plans.
The microphones would let users issue "Hey Google" commands directly to the device without picking up the remote. Presence detection could allow the TV to show pictures, the time, the weather, and other ambient data when someone enters a room. The remote is expected to keep a similar design but gain two additional shortcut buttons alongside the dedicated YouTube and Netflix controls.
Google has not disclosed the device, its price, or its debut date.
The current Google TV Streamer launched in September 2024 at $99.99. Google raised the U.S. price by $50 to $149.99 on Aug. 31, citing rising component costs, which 9to5Google noted was a 50% increase. The current model has 32GB of storage and 4GB of RAM. For comparison, Walmart's Onn 4K Pro was selling for around $60 in September.
Gemini began rolling out to the Google TV Streamer in November 2025, and users currently need to press the microphone button on the remote to talk to it.
